CUINFORMS

What is CUINFORMS?

CUINFORMS is the Columbia University chapter of INFORMS (Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences), the largest professional society in the world for professionals in operations research, management science, and business analytics.

We are affiliated with the IEOR (Industrial Engineering and Operations Research) department at Columbia University, and are open to all students with an interest in operations research and management sciences.

Throughout the year, we host a variety events for both lower and upperclassmen about career paths, graduate school, and research opportunities in the field. We also invite a number of guest speakers from industry, academia, and graduating classes.

Types of CUINFORMS Events

We have something from everyone, whether you are already a declared IEOR major or just curious about the field.

Before Declaring

Many of our events are geared towards underclassmen to provide more context about IEOR. We often bring in upperclassmen and professors to answer common questions and provide advice.

We also bring in guest speakers from academic, industry, and graduating classes to help members build connections and explore career paths. These events are open to all students.

Social Events

Every year, we spend a substantial amount of time planning fun social events such as dinners, game nights, and even more formal events for newly declared IEOR majors.
